TELUS Friendly Future Foundation Donates $20,000 to Ignite Durham Learning Foundation (IDLF)
Funding will help to support DDSB students in need of classroom and living resources.
Whitby, Ontario, June 20, 2023 – TELUS Friendly Future Foundation® has donated $20,000 to contribute towards Ignite Durham Learning Foundation’s effort in removing financial barriers and creating equitable opportunities that empower Durham District School Board students to achieve academic and personal success.
“We are so appreciative of this generous gift from the Telus Friendly Future Foundation. At a time when we are seeing the highest level of need throughout our communities, this funding will enable us to expand our S.N.A.C.K. Pillar 'Student Nutrition Access for Classrooms and Kids'," says IDLF Executive Director, Stacey Lepine-Fisher. “This funding will allow us to purchase equipment and supplies that will enable us to do more and serve more. On behalf of our students, THANK YOU! Tomorrow is made brighter thanks to our friends at Telus.”
The Telus Friendly Future Foundation® will aid in creating a brighter future for youth in Durham through their generous donation. This amount will contribute to one of IDLF’s five program pillars, the S.N.A.C.K. Fund, which will allow IDLF to achieve success in providing resources. IDLF’s five program pillars ensure students have what they need to fully participate in their education such as food, clothing, school supplies, transportation, extra-curricular activities, and post-secondary pathways.
“We’ve heard from our charity partners about the challenges students in their community are facing,” says Shanan Spencer-Brown, Executive Director of TELUS Friendly Future Foundation. “We are honoured to be able to support Ignite Durham Learning Foundation with a donation of $20,000 from the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation® Community Board. We are so appreciative of the work IDLF is doing in their community, supporting equal opportunities for learning and success in DDSB schools.”

Corporate Matching Gift Program
What is Corporate Gift Matching?
May organizations and companies offer a gift matching program as part of their corporate social responsibility. This means that what ever you donate to Ignite Durham Learning Foundation, your employer will match it.
If you are unsure if your company has a corporate matching program, reach out to your supervisor of HR department. If you don’t ask, you won’t know!!
You could also consider a company or office wide fundraiser – a bake sale, boss for the day or how about a raffle for a free paid day off – all proceeds would go towards the Ignite Durham Learning Foundation (and can be doubled/matched by your employer).
